Welcome to our site.  I am much better at being a care giver and breeder of English Cockers than a web master so please bear with me here.  What I want to do is tell you a bit about myself and our wonderful breed, specifically our dogs.  We got our first English Cocker, in fact our first dog as an adult, in 1981.  We bought Dixie and in our eyes she was the most beautiful thing in the world.  No, not of show quality but certainly a good ambassador of her breed.  We were encouraged by our experience with her as a family pet and we got intrigued by the breed. One thing led to another and by 1989 we had bought a show quality female.  She turned out to be the foundation to our breeding program that followed.  Her name was Can. Ch. Westover's Lady Guinevere and in time we bred her to International Ch. Westover's Sir Lancelot.  The name of our kennel became Joyousgarde from the stories of King Arthur.  Joyousgarde was the name of Sir Lancelot's castle.

We have been very successful even though we were never big.  We always had the dogs as members of the family first but had some nice wins over the years and have put championships on many of our dogs.  One was also shown successfully in the US for a duel championship.  I study pedigrees, do health clearances, show in confirmation and keep updated on current information to do with health and where the breed is going.  I did try a bit of obedience and found it great and would encourage anyone to do something like that with their puppies.

We do have puppies occasionally and will place them in approved homes.  Look at some of the pictures and work your way through this site as best you can.  If you want more information about the English Cocker Spaniel or my puppies in particular please feel free to contact me at 613-256-4566 or email me at joyousgarde@gmail.com  or call and come and visit me.   I live south west of Ottawa, Ontario.  All puppies are micro chipped, health checked by a vet, reg'd with the Canadian Kennel Club and home raised.

As of 2016 I am now a life member of the Canadian Kennel Club.  This recognition comes from over 30 years of continues membership in good standing.  I have also been a member for over 20 years of the English Cocker Spaniel Club of Canada.  Both of these organizations have done much to support and defend the pure bred dog in this country.

To sum up there is a saying,  "When God created the English Cocker Spaniel, He was just showing off."  I think there is more truth than fiction in this statement.
